Sangli: The area under cane cultivation is increasing in the Sangli district in the last four to five years, according to agrowon.
For the 2023-24 season, sugarcane grown over 1, 44,128 hectares of area will be available for crushing which is higher by 20,000 hectares compared to the preceding year.
Sugar mills in the district will have to make proper planning to harvest cane as the area under cane cultivation has increased this season.
The area under cane cultivation in Walva taluka has increased compared to that of other talukas.
Out of 18 sugar mills in the district, 14 participated in the cane-crushing operations last season.
