Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers called off their four-day-long agitation after officials of Shamli sugar mill assured them to clear cane dues within 15 days, reports Amar Ujala.
Manish Chauhan, former president of district panchayat and BJP leader convened a meeting of agitating farmers along with Tehsildar Sadar Prashant Awasthi, DCO Vijay Bahadur and officials from Shamli sugar mill and resolved the issue.
During the meeting, the mill administration agreed to clear the payment of 15 days by June 20. Farmers called off agitation after Rahul Lal, Managing Director of the mill assured them of preparing an outline to clear pending cane dues.
