Andhra Pradesh: Farmers agitate for revival of Bhimasingi sugar mill

Vizianagaram: Sugarcane farmers under the leadership of several political organizations staged a protest in front of the Bhimasingi Cooperative sugar mill near Jami in Vizianagaram district demanding the revival of the sugar mill, reports The Hindu.

Addressing the gathering, CPI state committee member P Kameswara Rao said, the government is planning to completely close the mill citing the reason for the scarcity of sugarcane for crushing in the region.

Loksatta Party State President Bheesetti Babji said the closure of the mill has affected the lives of hundreds of workers that have lost their job.

They have demanded the government to reopen the closed sugar mill that would benefit farmers as well as workers in the region.
