Ethanol producers worry as FCI halts rice supply

New Delhi: As many as 100 distilleries producing ethanol are staring at crisis as the Food Corporation of India has stopped the supply of rice to them from last week, reports The Times of India.

According to the media report, the steps have been taken following the government’s decision to ban the export of non-basmati white rice last week.

V. N. Raina, secretary general of All India Distiller’s Association said, “Many distilleries are facing shortage of rice as FCI has not provided us rice from last week and some distilleries may stop operations if this continues. We have raised the issue with FCI.”
