Ethanol-producing distilleries are considering for alternatives after the FCI suddenly stopped supplying rice to them, reports Business Standard.
Gulshan Polyols has informed the exchange that the ethanol production at its plant in the Chhindwada district of Madhya Pradesh will be disrupted due to FCI’s decision.
Globus Spirits, another major player in the grain-based ethanol space, informed the exchanges that it was shifting its feedstock from surplus rice to alternative raw materials such as broken rice and maize. These raw materials can be used for production of extra neutral alcohol (ENA) and ethanol.
BCL Industries said that it is waiting for a policy announcement from FCI and is continuing production of ENA from broken rice and maize at its units in Punjab and West Bengal.
