Agri department assess sugarcane and other crops loss in Sonepat, Panipat

Panipat: The Agriculture Department has initiated the assessment of sugarcane and other crops damaged due to heavy floods in the Yamuna area in the Sonepat and Panipat districts, reports Tribune India.

Crops grown over 11,000 acres in Sonepat while 9,573 acres grown in Panipat districts were damaged due to heavy floods.

Apart from sugarcane crops, paddy, fodder crops, and vegetables were damaged due to the flooding.

The department has sent an estimated report of crop loss due to heavy rain in Gohana to the government. In Panipat around 2,199 acres of cane crop have been damaged.

Hariom Atri, DRO Sonepat said that crops grown on around 30,000 acres are still standing in water. We have asked farmers to upload their crop damage on the e-fasal kshatipurti portal, he said.
