DM asks sugar mills to clear cane dues of farmers

Shamli: District Magistrate Ravindra Singh has asked the sugar mills in the district to ensure that they clear pending cane dues of the farmers at the earliest, according to Live Hindustan.

Three sugar mills in the district have paid cane dues worth Rs 435.66 lakh out of a total of Rs 1127.37 lahks for the 2022-23 season to the cane farmers. DM convened a meeting of officials concerned with the sugarcane department and reviewed the situation of cane payment in the district. Shamli sugar mill owes Rs 264.14 lakh, Unn mill owes Rs 142.19 lakh and Thanabhavan sugar mill owes Rs 285.38 lakh to the cane farmers. These mills owe total dues worth Rs 691.70 lakh to the cane farmers. DM has asked all the mills to clear the cane dues of the farmers at the earliest and officials to ensure that these mills take steps to release dues.
