In a significant development, refiners in Bangladesh have announced a noteworthy 5 Bangladeshi Taka (Tk – Bangladeshi currency) reduction in the prices of soybean oil and sugar.
The Sugar Refiners Association stated that effective from Sunday, packaged sugar will be priced at 135 Tk per kilogram, while loose sugar cost 130 Tk per kilogram.
This move comes after traders were previously selling sugar at prices higher than the government and refinery-fixed rates.
Recent skyrocketing sugar prices had burdened citizens, exacerbating inflationary pressures in Bangladesh. However, this reduction offers a glimmer of respite to consumers who were grappling with rising costs.
