DCO advises timely tying of cane to improve sugarcane production

Pilibhit: District Cane Officer has emphasized the importance of proper tying, which can lead to improved sugarcane growth, reports Live Hindustan.

Just as plowing the soil in June and July proves beneficial for sugarcane crops, similarly, proper tying also yields advantages in enhancing productivity and recovery. A healthy sugarcane crop attains a height of about 2 to 2.50 meters, increasing the likelihood of falling. Thus, sugarcane should be tied in August-September. He mentioned that the district has around 226,000 sugarcane farmers, but only about 25,000 farmers engage in sugarcane tying. Failing to harvest during August and September often results in sugarcane being knocked down by strong winds and rainfall, leading to reduced growth. Damage caused by rodents and wild animals also escalates.

Furthermore, production decreases, and recovery from fallen sugarcane drops by 0.5%.
