BSF Meghalaya seizes sugar intended for smuggling in Bangladesh

On September 3, 2023, the vigilant troops of the 4th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya apprehended a Bangladeshi national attempting to illegally cross the international border from India to Bangladesh. During the interception, the BSF troops discovered a substantial cache of Indian sugar, totaling 5600 kilograms in weight and valued at over Rs 2 lakh.

This successful operation highlights the commitment of the BSF in safeguarding India’s borders and preventing illegal activities, including smuggling, along the international frontiers.

The seizure of the sugar comes at a time when there is a shortage of sugar in Bangladesh. The price of sugar in Bangladesh has been rising in recent months.
