Kabirdham: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will inaugurate the state’s first sugarcane-based ethanol plant on Tuesday. The plant, located in the village of Ramhepur, was built at a cost of ₹141 crore.
The plant is a public-private partnership between the Bhoramdev Cooperative Sugar Factory and NKJ Biofuels Limited, a subsidiary of Chhattisgarh Distilleries Limited.
The plant is expected to create direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region and boost economic development. It will also help to ensure that sugarcane farmers are paid on time for their produce.
The plant is equipped with hybrid technology that allows it to produce ethanol from both sugarcane juice during the crushing season and molasses during the off-season. This will require more sugarcane juice, which will be met by increasing the amount of sugarcane purchased from farmers.
The plant is a significant milestone in Chhattisgarh’s efforts to develop its ethanol industry.
