Maharashtra government may take decision on sugarcane crushing on Tuesday

The Maharashtra government may decide on Tuesday whether to start the sugarcane crushing season in the state. The decision will be made by a cabinet committee chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, reported Lokmat.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar will also attend the meeting.

The committee is expected to consider a proposal from the sugar industry to start the season on November 1. The industry is concerned that if the season is delayed, it could lead to a loss of production.

Maharashtra is facing a deficit rainfall, sparking concerns over the potential impact on sugarcane production and a subsequent drop in sugar output compared to the previous season.
