Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 23 (ANI): Businessman Parag Desai, executive director of Wagh Bakri Group, died on Sunday “after suffering brain haemorrhage”.

Sources said the businessman fell down a few days ago near his residence during a walk while trying to ward off stray dogs.

Desai, 50, was admitted to a private hospital soon after his injury and later shifted to another hospital.

Sources at the hospital, where he was treated later, said he suffered a skull fracture “due to fall” and a team of doctors continuously monitored his condition.

The press note stated that the patient was brought to the emergency department of Shalby Hospitals at SG Highway by around 6 pm.

“He was unconscious and not responding. It was stated that the patient fell down after being chased by dogs but apparently there were no dog bite marks on his body. A CT scan revealed acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion,” the press note said.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said that Parag Desai’s death and said it was avoidable.

She said there should be a “proactive policy” to handle the stray dog menace.

“Parag Desai’s death is tragic and was avoidable. My heartfelt condolences to his family. We really need to have a pro active policy in place to handle the stray dog menace- active stray animal shelters especially dogs, neutering them, their vaccinations etc. I have seen many NGOs who selflessly serve the cause but struggle due to lack of funds and local governments that have funds but not prioritising it,” she said in post on ‘X’ over a report concerning the businessman’s death.

Gujarat Congress chief and Rajya Sabha member Shaktisinh Gohil also expressed his condolences over the demise of Parag Desai.

“Very sad news coming in. Parag Desai, Director and owner Wagh Bakri Tea passed away. He had a brain haemorrhage following a fall. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Wagh Bakri family across India,” he said in a post on X.
