Nepal police seizes illegally imported sugar

In recent months, a persistent sugar shortage has led to increased prices for consumers in the country. However, a substantial quantity of sugar has been illicitly entering Nepal through the border crossing, reported My Republica.

The District Police Office in Sarlahi recently reported the confiscation of 142 sacks of sugar during the Dashain festival period. It is said to be illegaly imported to the country.

The Nepalese people are facing challenges in celebrating festivals this year due to a sugar shortage resulting from low production and India’s export restriction.
