Kolkata: Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd, a company under the K K Birla group, has reported a net profit of ₹29 crore for the quarter ending in September, marking a notable turnaround from the ₹16 crore loss recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year, reported The Hindu Business Line.
The Kolkata-headquartered company reported a total income of ₹799 crore for the quarter, a increase from ₹594 crore reported in the same period a year ago. The EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) also exhibited substantial growth, reaching ₹78 crore compared to ₹6 crore in July-September of the previous year, as stated in a company release.
The company now proposes to increase sugar cane crushing capacity from 10,000 TCD (tonnes of cane crushed per day) to 13,000 TCD, and also improve energy efficiency.
