We brought sugar mills back to life: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: As Lok Sabha election comes to an end, politics over closed sugar mills has gained traction. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that many mills were shut down during the previous government’s tenure, but when we came in power, we brought them back to life.

Addressing rallies in Gehmar of Ghazipur and Gulhariya of Pipraich, he said, “If BJP comes back to power no one needs to worry about the development. BJP government is committed towards it. Gorakhpur fertilizer factory, which is going to start soon, will not only create huge job opportunities, farmers will get benefited too. Soon the production of petrol and diesel will start from the sugar mills we installed. Many mills were shut down during the previous government’s tenure, but when we came in power, we brought them back to life.”

Earlier, Yogi had slammed previous SP, BSP led-governments and accused them of auctioning sugar mills at throwaway prices making sugarcane farmers bankrupt.

Two sugar mills each in Piparaich and Munderwa of Eastern Uttar Pradesh will become functional soon while Manjhols sugar mill be run on PPP model in the time to come, this was announced by Uttar Pradesh government.

Cane arrears in Uttar Pradesh sill remain stubbornly high. The government is adopting various measures to improve the mills’ ability to clear sugarcane dues.
