The domestic benchmark indices ended lower on January 08.
Sensex ended 670.93 points lower at 71,355.22, whereas Nifty concluded 197.80 points down at 21,513.00.
Indian rupee ended flat at 83.13 per dollar on Monday against Friday’s close of 83.16.
UPL, SBI, SBI Life Insurance, Divis Labs and Britannia Industries were among top losers on the Nifty, while gainers were Adani Ports, HCL Technologies, ONGC, Hero MotoCorp and NTPC.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 178.58 points higher at 72,026.15, whereas Nifty concluded 52.20 points up at 21,710.80.
