Heat wave to sweep western, southern India

Pune, May 22 (UNI) Conditions are favorable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, north Andaman Sea, and Andaman Islands during next 2-3 days.

Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Chhattisgarh, coastal and south interior Karnataka and in remaining parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in some parts of madhya Maharashtra.

The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 45.9 degrees celsius in Bramhapuri of Vidarbha in Maharashtra.

Heat waves very likely to sweep across isolated places in madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Odisha, Gujarat Region, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and Tamil Nadu.
