The domestic benchmark indices ended higher on January 06.
Sensex ended 454.67 points higher at 72,186.09, whereas Nifty concluded 157.70 points up at 21,929.40.
Top Nifty gainers included BPCL, HDFC Life, TCS, Maruti Suzuki and HCLTech, while losers were Power Grid, IndusInd Bank, ITC, Bajaj Finserv and Britannia Industries.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 354.21 points lower at 71,731.42, whereas Nifty concluded 82.10 points down at 21,771.70.
