Nagina: Dr. KK Singh, scientist at the Agricultural Research Station Nagina, urged farmers in the district to adopt modern sugarcane cultivation techniques to boost productivity and income, reported Live Hindustan.
Stressing the urgency of change, Dr. Singh highlighted the declining performance of the CO 0238 cane variety due to disease. This, he noted, is increasing production costs for farmers. He strongly recommended replacing CO 0238 with newer, disease-resistant options like CO 15023, CoS 13235, CoLk 14201, and CoS 17231.
Careful seed selection before planting is also crucial, Dr. Singh emphasized. He advised farmers to source seeds from disease-free fields to ensure healthy crops.
