Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar and EverEnviro have collaborated to establish Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants in Uttar Pradesh. Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar has 14 operational sugar mills, annually generating approximately 500,000 metric tonnes of press mud. This biomass can be harnessed to potentially set up CBG plants with a combined capacity of 70 metric tonnes per day, solidifying Bajaj Sugar’s position as Asia’s largest crushing capacity owner and one of the world’s largest.
On the development, Bajaj Group Chairman, Mr. Kushagra Bajaj’s office said, “Bajaj Group has been in business for more than 90 years now and the focus has always been on nation building. The Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh has been promoting and encouraging setting up of CBG plants and production of CBG as renewable gas in line with country’s objective to reduce dependency on fossil fuels. CBG is an eco-friendly fuel derived from various waste streams. Press-mud from sugar mills is one such main by-product that Bajaj Sugar aims to utilise to produce green energy.”
EverEnviro, a leading player in the CBG sector, already has operational projects and others under commissioning in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Punjab. These projects focus on utilising municipal organic waste, agro-waste from paddy fields, and residue waste from sugarcane crushing.

Under the agreement, Bajaj Sugar has the flexibility to either sell press mud at predetermined long-term prices or become an equity partner in the CBG plant project alongside EverEnviro.
Leveraging its experience in Uttar Pradesh, Bajaj Sugar plans to pursue a mixed strategy, realising partial value for press mud through cash and equity in the CBG project. This strategic move marks a new phase in Bajaj Sugar’s growth story, diversifying its portfolio with green fuels, including ethanol, as part of a sustainable revenue model.
