Dhaka: Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun announced that the government has devised a comprehensive five-year roadmap aimed at bolstering sugar production in the country.
Responding to a query posed by Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan, a treasury bench lawmaker representing Laxmipur-2, during the question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad, Minister Humayun reiterated, “A five-year roadmap has been formulated to enhance sugar production.”
Furthermore, he stated ongoing plans to modernize all old sugar mills, with a focus on both production and effective marketing of substantial sugar quantities.
To execute this program, the Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) has initiated a review project known as the Balancing, Modernization, and Replacement (BMR) of Carew and Company (Bangladesh) Limited.
To transform the northern Bengal sugar mill into a profitable venture, the approval process for a feasibility study is currently in progress, encompassing the modernization and diversification of production.
Simultaneously, the approval for the project proposal concerning the feasibility study on the Modernization of Thakurgaon Sugar Mill, production diversification, and the installation of a bit sugar plant is also underway.
