The sugarcane crushing season in Uttar Pradesh is in final phase as a large number of sugar mills have started to end the operations.
According to the Sugarcane Department, a total of 9,476 lakh quintals of sugarcane have been crushed by sugar mills so far. While 47 sugar mills are still operational, 74 sugar mills have completed crushing operations and have shut down.
In Uttar Pradesh, sugar production is expected to reach 105 lakh tonnes.
