According to the Central Water Commission, water available across reservoirs in the country as of 25th April is 53.358 BCM, which is 30% of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. In the previous year, the water available was 64.775 BCM, indicating a drop in water storage in the current year.
In the Northern region, water available in the reservoirs is 6.263 BCM which is 32% of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during the corresponding period of last year was 38%.
In the Eastern region, water available is 7.889 BCM which is 39% of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during the corresponding period of last year was 34%, indicating higher water availability in the current year.
In the Western region, water available in the reservoirs is 11.771 BCM which is 31.7 % of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during the corresponding period of last year was 38%.
In the Central region, water available is 18.570 BCM which is 39% of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs vs 43% last year.
In the Southern region, water available in reservoirs is 8.865 BCM which is 17% of the total live storage capacity of these reservoirs. The storage during the corresponding period of last year was 29%.
