Union Home Minister Amit Shah made an important statement about the Riga Sugar Mill in Bihar. Speaking at an election rally in support of NDA-backed JD(U) candidate Devesh Chandra Thakur at SRK Goenka College’s sports ground, Shah said that sugar from the Riga Sugar Mill used to reach Gujarat. He asked people to support Prime Minister Modi, promising that they would take responsibility for reopening the sugar mill.
Shah discussed the Riga sugar mill which was significant during the British era, supplying sugar as far as Gujarat but has been closed for the past five years. He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji has started the cooperative department, and it is now the responsibility of the BJP to restart the Riga sugar mill. The mill will produce ethanol, sugar, and jaggery, with profits directly deposited into the bank accounts of the farmers of Riga.
The chances of reopening the Riga sugar mill, which has been closed for almost four years in Sitamarhi district, have increased. An e-auction has been announced under the orders of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), with a reserve price of 91 crores. The e-auction will be held by the administration on May 27. If the mill reopens, it will benefit thousands of farmers in the area and may also lead to the start of many small businesses in the region.
