Bears growl! Sensex ends 4,390 points lower on counting day

Indian benchmark indices lost more than 5 percent on vote counting day on June 4.

Today’s session belonged to the bears as the markets saw heavy selling across all sectors barring the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) pack ahead of Lok Sabha poll results due later today.

Sensex ended 4,389.73 points down at 72,079.05, whereas Nifty concluded 1,379.40 points lower at 21,884.50.

Biggest losers on the Nifty included Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises, ONGC, NTPC and SBI, while gainers were HUL, Nestle, Britannia Industries, Hero MotoCorp and Tata Consumer Products.

In the previous season, Sensex ended 2,507.47 points up at 76,468.78, whereas Nifty concluded 733.20 points higher at 23,263.90.
