Among the top gainers were KM Sugar Mills Ltd. (up 7.63%), Magadh Sugar & Energy Ltd. (up 6.51%), Ponni Sugars (Erode) Ltd. (up 6.08%), Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals Ltd. (up 6.03%), KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd. (up 5.34%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd. (up 4.96%), Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd. (up 4.92%), Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd. (up 4.88%), Shree Renuka Sugars Ltd. (up 4.67%), and Sakthi Sugars Ltd. (up 4.63%).
EID Parry (India) Ltd. (down 0.16%) was among the top losers.
At around 11:00 AM, the NSE Nifty50 index was up 229.15 points at 23,050.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 794.37 points at 75,868.88.
