Pakistan: District administration cracks down on black market sugar sales in Peshawar

Peshawar: The district administration of Peshawar, acting on instructions from the provincial government, conducted a surprise market inspection in the Mattani area on Tuesday. This action resulted in the seizure of 800 bags of sugar that were being sold illegally on the black market at inflated prices, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

During the inspection, a warehouse owner was arrested for hoarding sugar and selling it on the black market. The authorities seized the 800 bags of sugar and ordered their sale in the open market.

The inspection aimed to ensure the availability of sugar at the official price and to prevent hoarding and black marketing. The district administration has warned shopkeepers and traders to display the official price list and sell sugar at a fixed price.
