Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: A delegation of farmers, led by Jitendra Singh, the State Secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, met with officials of Superior Food Grains Private Limited demanding prompt payment of overdue sugarcane dues at the sugar mill.
Following their demands, the company officials assured immediate payment. The delegation warned of staging a protest if payments were not made promptly. Farmers alleged that despite the mill being shut for two months, they had only received payments for 14 days after closure, causing financial crunch among them.
