The strategic reserve of sugar is sufficient for eight months in Egypt, said Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali el-Moselhi.
Moselhi during the meeting with the Higher Committee of Sugar said, “The average sugar consumption ranges between 230,000 to 240,000 tonnes per month.”
In order to take necessary measures to import the required quantity, he asked sugar companies to estimate the domestic consumption in the country.
According to the Ministry of Supply’s data, out of the country’s consumption of 3.2 million tonnes sugar, 2.3 million tonnes are produced domestically.
