Farmers to protest on July 22 over pending cane dues

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Nitin Sirohi, District President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Arajnaitik), announced that there will be a protest on July 22 in Lucknow against the non-payment of dues by sugar mills, reported Live Hindustan.

Thousands of workers from Bijnor will join the protest to surround the Cane Commissioner’s office.

During the monthly meeting of the Bhartiya Kisan Union (Arajnaitik) held at the Cane Committee, Sirohi mentioned that around 25 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have not paid the pending sugarcane dues to farmers.

Sirohi announced that farmers from all blocks of the district would travel to Lucknow for the protest. He urged the district administration to take farmers’ issues seriously and address their complaints.

The meeting was conducted by Narendra Pradhan. Among those present at the Cane Committee’s monthly meeting were Rakesh Pradhan, Gaurav Kumar Janghala, Atul Kumar, Balram Singh, Thakur Gajendra Singh, Narendra Kumar, Lokendra, Darshan Singh, Ankit, Hukam Singh, Uttam Singh, Mahal Singh, Udayveer Singh, Kulveer Singh, Sanjeev Kumar, Bhopal Rathi, Vineet Maurya, Ankul Deni, and Nadeem.
