Agartala (Tripura): Two Bangladeshi nationals were injured after Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened fire on them, foiling a smuggling attempt at Boxanagar in Tripura’s Sepahijala district.
BSF troops fired non-lethal weapons in self-defence when BD smugglers didn’t pay heed to the warning from BSF, tried to encircle and attack the troops on duty, and further attempted to smuggle the goods forcefully.
On being fired, BD smugglers fled the place, leaving behind huge quantities of sugar.
It is reliably learned that two Bangladeshi smugglers got pellet injuries and are undergoing treatment in a hospital in Bangladesh.
BSF troops are on high alert at the border to deal with anti-national elements and prevent trans-border crimes.
