Hapur, Uttar Pradesh: A delegation of officials from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Arajnaitik) led by District President Pawan Hoon Gurjar, met with the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) at the district headquarters on Tuesday, reports Live Hindustan.
They demanded the payment of dues to farmers by Simbhaoli and Brajnathpur sugar mills. The delegation also submitted a memorandum addressed to the Additional Commissioner.
District President Pawan Hoon stated that during the Mahapanchayat in Lucknow on July 22, discussions were held with Cane Commissioner Prabhu Narayan Singh. The Commissioner had assured that farmer dues would be paid before bank payments were made. However, farmers have not yet received their payments, causing significant distress and worsening their financial condition.
Hoon emphasized that farmers should receive their cane payments before any bank dues are settled. He warned that if payments are not made by Shivratri, the BKU (Arajnaitik) is prepared to launch a public agitation.
