CM announces decision to reopen Pondicherry cooperative sugar mill with private participation for ethanol and sugar production

Puducherry: The Puducherry government has decided to reopen the Pondicherry Cooperative Sugar Mill located in Lingareddipalayam, reports The Hindu.

Making the announcement in the Budget, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy stated that the government is reopening the sugar mill with private participation to produce ethanol and sugar.

The budget has made a provision of ₹15 crore to revitalize ailing cooperative societies in the Union Territory. The steps have been taken to strengthen cooperative societies in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions. He mentioned that these funds would be used within this financial year.
