Narayangarh, Haryana: Hundreds of farmers staged a massive tractor protest on Monday to demand the immediate release of their pending sugarcane payments. The protesters burned an effigy of the government in front of the Mini Secretariat. Farmer leaders urged a large turnout for a planned water satyagraha on August 12, reports Amar Ujala.
The farmers warned the administration of severe consequences if any farmer suffered losses due to the upcoming monsoon season. Led by Ravi Azad, the state youth president of the BKU Tikait group, the protest saw a massive participation of tractors.
Ravi Azad, himself driving a tractor, spearheaded the protest. He alleged that the Narayanagarh sugar mill owes farmers around ₹23-24 crores.
