The equity benchmark indices ended marginally higher amid volatility on Wednesday.
Sensex ended 149.85 points higher at 79,105.88, whereas Nifty concluded 4.75 points up at 24,143.75.
Top Nifty gainers included TCS, HCL Technologies, Infosys, Tech Mahindra and BPCL, while losers were Divis Labs, Hero MotoCorp, Coal India, ONGC and UltraTech Cement.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 692.89 points lower at 78,956.03, whereas Nifty concluded 208.00 points down at 24,139.00.
