Bijnor: Farmers staged a protest on Friday at the Bijnor Tehsil, demanding the payment of pending cane dues from Bilai Sugar Mill. Later, they submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), reports Amar Ujala.
The protest was organized by the Bijnor Tehsil unit of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Tikait) during a panchayat meeting held on Friday. During the meeting, speakers raised concerns about the pending sugarcane payments from Bilai Sugar Mill, the issue of stray cattle roaming in village areas, and the need for speedy resolution of cases that have been ongoing for 10-15 years in the consolidation department.
Following the meeting, the farmers held a vigorous protest. The panchayat was presided over by Tehsil President Komal Singh and conducted by Sandeep Tyagi. Notable attendees included State General Secretary Thakur Ramavatar Singh, Sadar Block President Dr Vijay Chaudhary, Dinesh Kumar, Sandeep Tyagi, Narpal Singh, Ankur Chaudhary, Subhash Singh, Brijesh Kumar, Dr S.P. Singh, and Sanjeev Tilakram.
