The Sugar Advisory Board (SAB) recommended the Pakistan government to export 100,000 metric tons of sugar. The decision was taken on Wednesday in a meeting headed by Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, reports Daily Times.
The final approval for this export will be determined by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, according to an official news release.
The meeting, also attended by Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, involved a review of the country’s sugar stock levels and current prices.
Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized that the nation has a surplus of sugar, assuring that there will be no increase in the ex-mill price of sugar. He further stated that the sugar exports will proceed under the terms and conditions established by the cabinet.
