Lucknow: The state government announced Thursday’s ambitious plan to double maize production by 2027, reports Times of India.
A spokesperson stated that the goal is to raise maize output within the next few years. To reach this target, the government intends to expand the area of land used for maize farming and improve the yield per hectare.
To support this effort, the state has launched the “Quick Maize Development Scheme,” which comes with a substantial funding of Rs 27.68 crore for the 2023-2024 financial year. This scheme aims to advance maize farming techniques and increase production efficiency throughout the state.
Currently, maize production in the state stands at 21.16 lakh metric tonnes.
High maize output will also help to boost the ethanol production.
