Ethanol boost: Two-wheeler makers can soon begin mass production of flex-fuel vehicles- Report

The automotive industry has expressed support for the Indian government’s initiative to transition to clean energy vehicles. Leading two-wheeler manufacturers have informed Union Minister Nitin Gadkari that they are prepared to begin mass production of flex-fuel vehicles soon. These vehicles, which can run on petrol with higher ethanol blends, represent a significant step toward reducing the environmental impact of transportation, reports CNBCTV18.

In a recent meeting with Minister Gadkari, big two-wheeler companies like TVS, Hero MotoCorp, Honda, and Bajaj Auto have firmed up plans to produce vehicles capable of running on 85% ethanol and even higher blends. These companies are now expected to display these production-ready flex-fuel models at the Auto Expo scheduled for January 2025.

As per media report, at the same time, the industry has sought policy enablers to allow the large-scale adoption of such flex-fuel two-wheelers.
