Brazil’s LIDE opens office in Mumbai; eyes boosting trade with India

Brazil-based LIDE, which calls itself “the largest and foremost business leaders’ organisation in Latin America,” has announced the opening of its India office in Mumbai. This move aims to enhance bilateral trade between India and Latin American countries, with a particular focus on Brazil.

The announcement coincides with Brazil preparing to host the G-20 summit.

LIDE, headquartered in Sao Paulo, has a global presence with offices in over 20 countries and operates across 34 sectors. The organization connects businesses and leaders worldwide, fostering a network that supports free enterprise, innovation, and economic growth.

In a commitment to the Indian market, LIDE will host a four-day conference in India in August 2025. This event will feature 150 major business enterprises from Brazil, Latin America, and 20 other countries.

As per news report by The Hindu BusinessLine, Joao Doria, Co-Chairman of LIDE, stated, “Our goal is to strengthen the economic relationship between Brazil and India. While we already have a solid partnership, we aim to expand it further, particularly by engaging the private sector more deeply.”

Doria believes that connecting Brazilian and Indian entrepreneurs will lead to new business opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, aerospace, defense, security, and technology. Additionally, LIDE plans to focus on the mineral sector, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, sustainability, and tourism.

He noted, “We believe that the trade between India and Brazil can increase many folds. This is our goal and this is our mission.”
