BKU demands sugar mills to start operation in October

Hasanpur (Amroha), Uttar Pradesh: Farmers affiliated with the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Apolitical) held a panchayat (meeting) on Monday and demanded that the sugarcane price for the upcoming crushing season be increased to Rs 500 per quintal. Farmers said they need this price increase due to rising costs, reports Live Hindustan.

At the panchayat, farmers also demanded that sugar mills start operations in October to avoid difficulties in supplying their sugarcane crops.

Farmers expressed dissatisfaction with the negligence of the Irrigation Department. They said that culverts on canals constructed by the Irrigation Department in Rajananagal and Jhakdi are incomplete, causing great inconvenience to farmers.

Many farmer leaders, including Sanjeev Baliyan, Sheeshpal Singh, Yashpal Singh, Anandpal Singh, Rohit Chaudhary, Mahavir Singh, Hari Om Singh, Mukhiya Chaudhary, and Dharmendra Singh, were present at this panchayat.
