NFCSF conducts brainstorming session on proposed Sugar (Control) Order 2024

The National Federation of Co-op Sugar Factories (NFCSF) conducted a brainstorming session on September 14 to discuss the recently released proposed Sugar (Control) Order 2024. The session focused on an in-depth discussion related to the order. The government has invited industry stakeholders to review the draft and submit their comments and suggestions by September 23, 2024.

Participants included representatives from MFCSF, ISMA, WISMA, AISTA, ChiniMandi, Tamil Nadu Sugar Federation, Renuka Sugar, NSL Sugar, Gujarat Sugar Federation, and managing directors of Maharashtra cooperative sugar mills. Maharashtra’s sugar commissioner Dr. Kunal Khemnar was also present during the session.

Under the leadership of NFCSF President Harshvardhan Patil, the session was represented by Managing Director Prakash Naiknaware and Finance Officer Sanjay Aggarwal. Retired DFPD officer V.K. Yadav who also presented a detailed analysis of the proposed order.

Harshvardhan Patil emphasized that the NFCSF is always there for the welfare of the sugar industry.

Sanjay Khatal, Executive Director of MFCSF, highlighted several significant issues during the discussion. The session allowed stakeholders to voice their perspectives and concerns regarding the proposed order.

The feedback collected will be compiled and sent to the Department of Food and Public Distribution by September 23.

Sugar (Control) Order looks after various aspects of the sugar industry, including regulation of production, sale, packaging and international trade of sugar, release quota for sale, movement and export/import of sugar.
