Muzaffarnagar: Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi emphasized that Uttar Pradesh has long been identified with agriculture, and it is crucial to preserve that identity. He was speaking at a farmer’s conference held under the Uttar Pradesh Grain Revival Program in Bhokarhedi, reported Amar Ujala.
He urged farmers to keep traditions alive and diversify their crops and suggested that alongside sugarcane, they should also cultivate chickpeas, lentils, and mustard. The minister assured farmers that the government is committed to not just doubling their income but increasing it significantly.
He stated that seven out of eight sugar mills in the district have cleared payments, a stark contrast to previous administrations where even cooperative mills failed to disburse funds.
Other speakers at the event included District Panchayat Chairman Dr Veerpal Nirwal, BJP District President Sudhir Saini, former MLA Mithlesh Pal, Regional Minister Amit Rathi, Teja Gurjar, Raju Ahlawat, Block Chief Anil Rathi, and Brajvir Singh. The event was presided over by former Chairman Madanpal Singh and coordinated by District President Dr. Veerpal Sahrawat. Several prominent local figures, including Arun Pal, Vedveer Singh, Varun Sahrawat, and others, were also in attendance.
