Indian equity indices ended lower on Friday.
Sensex ended 264.27 points lower at 85,571.85, whereas Nifty concluded 37.10 points down at 26,178.95.
Power Grid Corp, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank were among the top losers on the Nifty, while gainers were BPCL, Cipla, Sun Pharma, Coal India and Reliance Industries.
In the previous season, Sensex ended 666.25 points higher at 85,836.12, whereas Nifty concluded 211.90 points up at 26,216.05.
Indian rupee ended lower at 83.70 per dollar on Friday versus Thursday’s close of 83.64.
Sugar stocks, including EID Parry, Shree Renuka Sugars, Dhampur Sugar Mills, and Balrampur Chini Mills, among others, rose today following news of government considering sugar MSP and ethanol price hike.
