Domestic sugar prices reported to be stable
Domestic sugar prices in Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra have stabilized following a sharp rise. Prices rose sharply yesterday on the back of lower quotas for October. However, demand is reported to be low, keeping prices under control in today’s session.
The Food Ministry has set a lower quota of 2.55 MMT for October, which is 350 KMT lower than the previous year. Nonetheless, the monthly quota exceeded that of September by 200 KMT. Given that temperatures are below normal, price increases may be limited. Furthermore, with crushing set to begin next month, prices are expected to remain under pressure.
M-grade sugar in Muzaffarnagar ranges between Rs 3,910 and Rs 3,260 per quintal, while S-grade sugar in Kolhapur costs between Rs 3,585 and Rs 3,650. Agrimandi.live predicts that S-grade sugar prices in Kolhapur will be in the range of between Rs 3,500 and Rs 3,650 per quintal in the coming days.
