Mexico’s 2024/25 sugar production expected to rise by 8% amid improved weather conditions

Mexico’s sugar production for the 2024/25 marketing year is projected to reach 5.4 million metric tons, marking an 8% increase over the previous year, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Mexico City. Production is increasing because of favourable climatic conditions and seasonal rains throughout the country, cushioning the blow of drought in the last two years, reports XM.

These numbers are not too bad, but CONADESUCA, the National Committee for the Sustainable Development of Sugar Cane, has yet to put out its official forecast for the 2024/25 season.
