Uttarakhand: Farmers will get higher cane prices than Uttar Pradesh, says minister

Dehradun: Sugarcane Development Minister Saurabh Bahuguna assured farmers that Uttarakhand will continue to offer higher sugarcane prices than Uttar Pradesh in the current crushing season. He assured farmers about this during a meeting with them at his camp office in Yamuna Colony on Tuesday, reported Live Hindustan.

A group of farmers, led by Somdutt Sharma, President of the Bharatiya Kisan Union Welfare Foundation, presented a memorandum to Bahuguna. They requested an increase in the sugarcane price to Rs 500 per quintal. Additionally, they sought exemptions from road tax for hybrid vehicles and tax relief for those purchasing new hybrid vehicles from other states.

The farmers also raised concerns about the pending sugarcane payments from sugar mill.

Bahuguna reassured the farmers that his office and residence are open to them 24/7 to discuss their issues. He promised positive action on the demands raised during the meeting.
