Nitin Gadkari chairs review meeting with SIAM representatives to discuss readiness of automobile industry for ethanol and flex fuels

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday urged representatives of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to explore ways to increase public acceptance of ethanol and flex fuels during review meeting with SIAM representatives.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) shared on X that Nitin Gadkari chaired a review meeting with representatives of the SIAM at Transport Bhawan today to discuss the readiness of the automobile industry for ethanol and flex fuels. The dialogue delved into how the industry is readying itself in launching vehicles that run on ethanol in the coming months.

The discussions focused on how the industry is preparing to roll out ethanol-powered vehicles in the near future.

“He encouraged SIAM members to explore strategies to make these fuels more acceptable to the public, pointing to Brazil’s successful adoption of flex fuels and biofuels in its transportation sector,” said MoRTH.

“Gadkari also engaged in an insightful discussion on how a shift to biofuels from fossil fuels will aid India in being Atma Nirbhar (self-reliant), reduce pollution and annual import of fossil fuels, and help consumers receive fuels at lesser price — all while benefitting our farmers. He asked SIAM members to look into ways of making them more acceptable to the public, citing Brazil’s successful integration of flex fuels and biofuels in its transportation”, the post further added.
