Uttar Pradesh: BJP-backed candidates win 148 out of 151 seats in sugarcane committee elections

Uttar Pradesh BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary announced a decisive victory for the party in the Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee and Sugar Mill Association elections. Speaking at the BJP state headquarters, he stated that candidates supported by the BJP won 148 out of 151 seats in the sugarcane committee elections, marking the party’s largest success in these elections to date.

He attributed this significant achievement to the BJP’s pro-farmer policies at both the central and state levels, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Chaudhary highlighted that farmers, especially sugarcane growers, have expressed their support for the BJP’s initiatives aimed at improving their welfare. The elections, held after a nine-year gap, saw remarkable victories for BJP candidates in key districts such as Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, and Pilibhit. The election process for the sugarcane committees took place from September 23 to October 18.

He further noted that the BJP won all 25 seats in the Cooperative Sugar Mill Association elections, emphasizing that the Yogi government has disbursed over Rs 2 lakh crore to sugarcane farmers, including settling outstanding dues from previous governments.
